☀️ Weekend Weather
Saturday's going to feel more like late March than mid-April. Bundle up before heading out. Expect a mostly cloudy morning (with a few stray flurries east of I-81) giving way to some genuinely nice sunshine by late afternoon, though a breezy NW wind with gusts up to 30 mph will keep that high of 49° feeling pretty raw. Good news: it should calm down just in time for the SU spring game and the men's lax matchup at the Dome Saturday evening. Sunday starts cold (some spots dipping into the 20s!), but it warms into the upper 50s. Just plan to be home before the rain rolls in between 2 and 5 PM.

1. Someone Put a Bomb in a Cupcake Vending Machine You really can't make this stuff up. An explosion rocked a building off James Street on Oak Street Thursday, and it turns out someone planted an explosive device inside a cupcake vending machine. Syracuse Police are investigating, and the building owner confirmed the vending machine took the brunt of the blast. Equal parts bizarre and unsettling, stay tuned for updates on this one.
2. National Grid Workers Pull Off a Real-Life Rescue in Oswego County In a story that deserves a lot more attention, National Grid lineworkers recently saved a woman from a house fire in Oswego County. They happened to be working nearby and jumped into action before firefighters arrived. It's a good reminder that heroes sometimes show up in hard hats and high-vis vests.
3. SU Football's Calvin Russell Is Not Here to Sit Out Despite tearing his Achilles, Syracuse's two-sport athlete Calvin Russell is still holding onto hope of returning to the field this season. He told reporters plainly: "I didn't come here to sit out." Whether or not it's medically realistic, you've got to respect the mindset, and it's a nice storyline heading into Saturday's spring game at the Dome.
