☀️ Today’s Weather

Tuesday is going to be a wild one. We're starting the morning with rain and some embedded storms pushing out by 8 or 9 AM, then catching a little sunshine mid-morning before afternoon pop-up storms roll back in. The real headline is the evening: a line of strong to potentially severe storms is expected to push through, with 2–3 inches of total rainfall possible and a legitimate flood risk to keep an eye on. High of 65, low of 46, and with gusts cranking up to 30+ MPH, it's an umbrella-in-one-hand, coffee-in-the-other kind of day. On the bright side, the Syracuse Mets kick off their home opener at NBT Bank Stadium at 4:05 PM, so fingers crossed the storms behave themselves long enough for some baseball.

🗞️ Top Stories

1. GMAC is HOME and CNY Went All Out Over 2,000 fans packed into Miron Victory Court on Monday to welcome Gerry McNamara back to Syracuse as the new head coach of Orange basketball. An emotional McNamara made it clear this isn't just a job for him. "I'm here to win," he said, adding that his love for this city and this program never went away. Athletic Director Bryan Blair called it "weaponizing the Dome." The McNam-ERA has officially begun, and honestly, after the last few seasons, we needed this.

2. Fire Displaces Eight from Syracuse Multifamily Home A fire tore through a multifamily home in Syracuse on Monday, shutting down two streets and displacing eight residents. Firefighters had their work cut out for them as damaged staircases made it harder to access parts of the building. The Red Cross stepped in to help those displaced. No word yet on what sparked the blaze, as the investigation is ongoing. A reminder of how quickly things can change for folks in our community.

3. Syracuse Judge Disciplined for Refusing to Marry Same-Sex Couple A Syracuse judge has been officially censured after refusing to officiate a same-sex wedding, but she's keeping her job. The disciplinary panel found she violated judicial conduct rules, though they stopped short of removing her from the bench. It's a decision that's sparking plenty of conversation locally about where the line is between personal belief and the duties of public office. She'll stay on, but with a formal reprimand on the record.
