☀️ Today’s Weather

Tuesday is not the day to forget your umbrella. Clouds will roll in early, with the first round of showers and storms arriving around 8 or 9 AM and sticking around through midday. A second batch of storms is expected to fire up in the early afternoon before clearing out by 5 or 6 PM. It'll feel more like a summer day than mid-April: warm, sticky, and a little unsettled, with a high of 77°F and winds shifting out of the south and west at 10–20 MPH.

1. A Terrifying School Threat, And the Parent Who Stopped It Three Oneida County teens have been charged after authorities say they made a credible plan to carry out a mass shooting in the cafeteria of Clinton Middle School on April 17. Two girls, ages 13 and 14, face misdemeanor charges, while a 13-year-old boy faces a felony conspiracy charge. Here's the detail that should give you chills and then a little hope: the whole thing unraveled because a parent spotted something on social media and called police in the middle of the night. Sheriff Maciol was direct at a press conference Monday. There was a plan, and they had the means to carry it out. School remained open Monday with extra police presence, and officials say there is no ongoing threat.

2. A Chaotic Night in LaFayette Leaves Two Dead A deeply disturbing story out of the town of LaFayette: in the early hours of Sunday morning, 46-year-old Irene McIntyre of East Syracuse drove erratically through a residential neighborhood, struck and killed 79-year-old Cheryl Miron of Fayetteville, rammed another vehicle driven by a man trying to stop her, and ran over a second man attempting to help, all before State Police Trooper Michael Sharson arrived on scene and ultimately shot and killed McIntyre after repeated commands to stop went ignored. Two men were treated and released. The State Attorney General's office is investigating, as is standard in officer-involved shootings. It's a lot to take in, and the Lafayette community is left with a lot of questions about what led to that night.

3. G-Mac is Building Something, Aiden Tobiason is an Orange The Gerry McNamara era at Syracuse basketball is starting to look pretty exciting. The Orange landed a commitment Monday from Temple transfer Aiden Tobiason, a 6'5" guard who averaged 15.3 points per game last season while shooting 48% from the floor. He's rated as a four-star transfer by 247Sports and brings two years of eligibility to the Hill. Tobiason is the fifth transfer portal addition for McNamara's new-look roster, and between him, former Siena guards Gavin Doty and Tasman Goodrick, and a handful of other additions, 'Cuse fans have every reason to be cautiously optimistic heading into next season.
