☀️ Today’s Weather

Expect some morning drizzle and clouds before the sun starts to peek through in the afternoon. Temps will top out around 65°F with a noticeable westerly breeze, so maybe bring a light jacket if you're heading out to see DaBaby at Sharkey's tonight. Enjoy it while it lasts, because Sunday's looking downright wintry… more on that tomorrow morning.

🗞️ Top Stories

1. Clinton School District Closes Friday After Thwarted Shooting Plot Three teenagers (two girls, ages 13 and 14, and a 13-year-old boy), were arrested after law enforcement uncovered a detailed plan to shoot up the Clinton Middle School cafeteria, with today as the targeted date. All three have been expelled, deputies removed 11 weapons from one of the students' homes, and the entire district will be closed Friday out of an abundance of caution. A concerned parent tipped off law enforcement in the early morning hours of April 11, and honestly, this is exactly the kind of story that ends the right way because someone spoke up.

2. Lysander Neighbors Push Back on Massive Data Center Plan A 124-acre plot of land off Hencle Boulevard in the Town of Lysander is listed for $60 million, and it's the potential home of a 300-megawatt hyperscale data center that would draw as much power as roughly 200,000 average households. Residents are fighting back, worried about wildlife, water quality, dropping home values, and (perhaps most relatably) their electric bills going up. The Lysander Town Board took up a moratorium discussion at its meeting last night, so this one's far from over.

3. Syracuse's Equitable Towers Get New Local Owners With Big Ambitions The iconic twin towers that define the Syracuse skyline have new owners, and they're local. A group of local investors is reportedly planning to pour tens of millions of dollars into rebuilding the decades-old skyscrapers. No word yet on exactly what that transformation looks like, but after years of the buildings being largely associated with "hey, what's going on over there?", it's good news that people with skin in the Syracuse game are taking the wheel.
