☀️ Today’s Weather

Mother Nature is doing her classic CNY two-step this weekend. Saturday starts with some morning rain showers and breezy conditions, we're talking gusts up to 30 MPH, but the afternoon should dry out with a few peeks of sunshine. Enjoy that high near 46°F while you can, because temperatures are dropping hard by evening (low of 18°F overnight) and Sunday looks downright brutal with a high of only 21°F. If you're heading to the SU men's lax game at Penn on Sunday, pack every layer you own.

🗞️ Top Stories

1. Clay Manhunt Ends, Body Found in Burned Home After a tense domestic disturbance situation in Clay, police found a body inside a burned-out home, though officials couldn't immediately confirm if it was the armed suspect they'd been searching for. The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office also rescued several people trapped in a nearby marsh during the chaos. It was a wild and scary situation in our backyard, and thankfully the public safety alert has since been lifted.

2. Anthony Broadwater Wins Back His Own Story If you don't know Anthony Broadwater's name, you should. The Syracuse man spent years in prison after being falsely convicted of rape, a wrong that was eventually corrected, and on Friday he won back the rights to his own story at a court auction. This is a big deal for a man who had so much taken from him, and it hopefully means his remarkable story gets told on his own terms.

3. Syracuse Diocese Finally Out of Bankruptcy After nearly five years, the Syracuse Catholic Diocese has officially emerged from bankruptcy and made its payment into a $176 million victims' fund for people abused by clergy and staff. A judge signed off on the final order this week. It's a long-overdue step toward accountability and closure for hundreds of survivors in our community.
